Lovey- has a new home in Michigan

Lovey is sired by CH Rimrock's Ruff Willhe out of Candy- from our December 24, 2007 litter. Linebred on the top producing sire Dual Champion Cascade Rogue, NAVHDA Utility, Lovey has a correct, flat-lying well distributed low maintenance coat with beautiful markings. Lovey has a high tailset, nice dark eyes, and excellent sound gait. Lovey is started on game birds, has been intoduced to gunfire, and is already water retrieving. Lovey is well-socialized, leash and crate trained, likes to go in the car. Lovey has the potential to finish her AKC bench championship, and earn titles in NAVHDA and AKC or UKC hunt tests. Lovey, or "Lovett" now lives with her new family near Grand Rapids, Michigan. Lovey's family includes 4 children, extended family and lots of neighbor children and dogs to play with-including her special playmate, a little Pug.

"Lovey" is now 17&1/2 weeks of age. Lovey has benefited from field training class, visits to dog training classes, socializing sessions at the local pet supply stores, and visits to the dog park. Lovey took right to the water her first time- entering with a flying leap!!! Crate and leash trained, Lovey comes when called, is crazy about retrieving, soliciting total strangers to throw for her. Lovey has a perfect "10" correct coat- dense, harsh, flat-lying and properly distributed- a low maintenance coat that will go from the field to the show ring and not need much grooming Lovey has a beautiful gait with reach and drive, sloping topline, excellent tailset, and is clean coming and going. A lovely head and expression with dark eyes. She is available to a home where she will be shown to her championship and hunted.

OrangeBoy is now "Jagger" and lives in South Dakota. GreenBoy is now "Cooper" and lives in West Virginia. Teal Girl is yet unnamed and lives in Wisconsin. PinkGirl is yet unnamed and lives in Oregon.

7 Weeks now, lots of new adventures

The pups go outside at least three times almost every day this past week, have been on about 8 car rides so far, and have met many new friends, both human and animals. Today's adventure(2-12)was a trip to the MSU campus, and a short run inside the new parking garage, met a professor and a few grad students. The pups were declared very cute. This past Sunday the pups all met 5 adult Rough Collies, and about 5 new cats during the visit to friend Penelope's home. Saturday, a trip to the country, and a run in the new snow, play with young friend- age 5 years, and tasted some new treats. All of the pups retrieve, and all are friendly, bold, and outgoing. The old Malinois was kind of mean to the pups, though, causing them to squeal when she nipped them for being too forward with her- trying to nurse on her.

The great outdoors

The puppies are almost six weeks old now, and are going outside every day.They enjoy playing in the snow. Today they all had baths and nail trims. Mom still likes to play with her puppies, and they still nurse a for a few minutes each day, however she doesn't seem to have much milk now. The puppies eat food 3 X each day. We have a lot of snow right now here in Michigan.

5 weeks and very active!

The puppies are now five weeks of age, and they are very active when awake- bold explorers. Socializing continues with visits from family friends, and other older, gentle dogs besides mom. Today they all had a bath, and quickly vied to be the first to get smeared with puppy food again. All of the pups are extremely friendly, and they all like to be held and have their ears rubbed. It looks as if Candy may have produced another litter with almost identical, excellent temperaments. Candy still nurses the puppies for a few minutes a few times each day. I have taken some new photos, and will post them as soon as I can squeeze some time from puppy care duties.

4 Weeks today!

The puppies are 4 weeks old today. Still sleeping a lot. Playing a lot more now, and mom spends a lot less time with her babies. The pups really play with their toys now, carrying them around, some chewing , and now they all eat 3 times each day.

Day 18- 7 power sleepers & 1 eater

While all the other pups sleep, Pink girl hits the food dish. At 18 days, all the pup's eyes are open.

The pups are helping to make their mother's work easier by deigning to eat some of their mom's EVO dog food, and some Eukanuba puppy weaning formula. Mostly they smear it all over themselves and lick it off of each other. They are making comical attempts to play with each other- gumming muzzles and lifting their front paws, then falling over because they can barely walk, let alone balance on 3 feet. Most of the day is still spent power sleeping.

Day 15-Exploring...

The pups are all walking now, and are starting to explore. Sometimes one climbs on top of mom when mom is nursing the rest of the pups. All of the pups have eyes starting to open, none fully open yet- at 15 days.Although some of the pups have been venturing to explore mom's food dish, none seem to want anything other than mom's milk now.
We are having fun cuddling with the pups. The pups spend so much time in front of the computer on our laps that I think they will eventually be ready to have their own email accounts. They would probably order deliveries of live quail and ducks and pheasants and get me in trouble with my credit card company.

12 days old & eyes starting to open

All the puppies can sort of walk now- more like toddle.Eyes are starting to open. Mom is working on teaching the pups manners by tormenting the pups with her chew bone- sets it by the pups and growls at them if they come near it. Most of the time the puppies are all sleeping.

Day 9 - our first nail trim

All of us puppies had our nails trimmed today, and we are all up and trying to walk, especially on our newest surface- the welcome mat. Even Mr. 40 ouncer is up on his legs and trying to walk. Soon our eyes will be open.

Puppy #4-White Girl- Medium sized open blaze with small dot in blaze on top of head- no body spots. Weight gain>17 oz birth weight>35 ounces on day 8!

Puppy #5-Grey Girl-Mostly solid liver head- small closed blaze- 1 round spot on croup- no other body spots. Weight gain>17+oz birth weight>36 ounces on day 8!

Puppy #6-Grey Girl-Large open blaze with dot in blaze on top of head, spot on left side of tail base, tailset spot, spot on tail, not other body spots. Weight gain>16 oz birth weight>26 ounces on day 8!

Puppy #7 -White Boy-Medium sized closed blaze- tailset spot towards left, 1 round spot on center left ribs, 1 tiny spot on top of back. Weight gain>17 oz birth weight>40 ounces on day 8!

Tails are docked and they look great. The puppies are thriving. This is a very quiet litter- life is good for them- eat, sleep, interact with mom, eat sleep, occasionally squeal when things are not perfect for even a second. Sleep, eat more, pose for photos, get weighed- more sleeping and eating and nice mom.

The much anticipated litter arrived in time for Christmas. 8 beautiful puppies- 4 girls, 4 boys. Mom is doing well. The puppies are good sized, very vigorous and healthy. All of them nursed within minutes of birth, some before their cords were cut. We have already started cuddling with them. It looks like about half the puppies with be liver and white ticked-grey or silver color with liver markings, and about half of the puppies will be snow white with liver markings. There is a boy with a solid liver head, a boy with an almost solid liver head, 5 puppies with small blazes, and 1 boy with a "Phantom of the Opera" face- a 1/2 blaze like his great grand mother- the top producing "Autie". Tails and dewclaws will be done on day 4.
